If you love a good oven-fresh cinnamon roll but are looking for something that is more friendly for a large gathering, a cinnamon roll casserole is the way to go! Let’s discuss how to store the cinnamon roll casserole, if you can freeze Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, and how to make it a balanced meal!

Cinnamon rolls are known for either a special holiday treat or for an easy recipe on Sunday mornings. I mean who doesn’t love oven-fresh cinnamon rolls with that delicious icing? Cinnamon rolls are my husband’s favorite breakfast! In fact, if we go out to breakfast or brunch it is always an “appetizer” we order haha! My husband would also argue that this is a great weekday breakfast. Which we usually have leftovers from the weekend and eat it during the week as well so he’s not wrong!

    Making a Balanced Breakfast

When I make this cinnamon roll casserole, I like to pair it with a fruit and a protein to keep me full until mid-morning or lunch. Here are some ideas!

Add in a cup of berries, cut up a pineapple, or eat a pear or apple!

Include 2 hardboiled eggs, 2 scrambled eggs, or turkey sausage!

Can You Freeze Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls?

It is not a good idea to freeze Pillsbury cinnamon rolls in the tubes (unbaked rolls). This could prevent them from rising properly when baking. This is because the leavening agents power is diminished in the freezer.

The good news is that baked cinnamon rolls can be frozen! The best way to store them in the freezer is in an airtight container.

How to Make Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls Casserole:

Preheat the oven: Preheat oven to 375℉. In a 9x13 glass baking dish, pour melted butter and spread evenly.

Cut the cinnamon rolls: Cut each cinnamon roll into small bite-sized pieces. Spread evenly in the dish.

Whisk together other ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk the 4 eggs, ½ cup milk, 2 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 teaspoon cinnamon together. Pour egg mixture over the cinnamon rolls evenly.

Bake dough: Bake at 375℉ for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Or until it is cooked to your liking - we prefer almost unbaked cinnamon rolls with how gooey we like it haha!

Cool down: After the casserole cools for about 5 minutes (doesn’t need to be room temperature), remove the covers from the icing and microwave for about 10 seconds or until the icing is thin.

Drizzle the icing: Drizzle icing over the casserole and enjoy!
