Nutritional Benefits
Protein rich
I think we are all trying to get more protein in these days. This drink comes in at just above 13 grams of protein. It is a nice way to satisfy your sweet tooth while also keeping you full and helping repair and grow your muscles!

What You’ll Need:
Ingredients:
- Chocolate protein powder - I use Vital Performance Protein Powder (made by Vital Proteins)
- Cocoa powder
- Powdered sugar
- Milk of choice - I use cow’s milk
- Heavy cream
Kitchen Equipment:
- Medium metal or cold glass bowl
- Hand mixer - If you don’t have a hand mixer you could use a stand mixer.
- Coffee mugs
- Piping bag or ziploc bag

How to Make The Whipped Hot Chocolate Recipe:
Whip together all ingredients:
In a medium metal or cold glass bowl, add cold heavy whipping cream, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Beat on high until the mixture starts to form soft peaks. Be careful not to over-whip - the whipped topping will sink if you do!
Warm up the milk:
Warm the milk in the microwave until it becomes hot. Add milk to a mug.
Add the whipped part:
Top with the whipped protein hot chocolate. You can put it in a piping bag or ziploc bag and cut the corner of the bag with scissors to make it look fancier with a piped swirl!
Put garnishes on top of the milk:
Top with marshmallows, chocolate chunks, or sprinkles!

Variations/Substitutes
Dalgona Coffee
Basically whipped coffee! Check out a recipe I found from Jessica In The Kitchen.
Hot Chocolate Mix
If you have some hot cocoa mix on hand, you could replace the cocoa powder with 1 tablespoon of hot cocoa mix.
Use A Different Type of Milk
The options are endless when it comes to what milk to use! If cows milk (I use whole milk) is not your jam, try using soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk instead.
Make It Warm or Cold
Instead of warm milk, you can make it with cold milk!
Add Fun Toppings
The toppings are endless! You can top it with mini marshmallows, hot chocolate powder, chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate shavings, mini chocolate chips, pumpkin spice, or crushed-up candy cane.
Coffee
Instead of milk you could add instant coffee (or any other type of coffee) as the base.
Add extracts
For a particular flavors you could add extracts such as: coffee extract, a bit of peppermint extract, or vanilla extract.
Other Additions
Chocolate milk or strawberry milk instead of regular milk would be extra sweet! Add coffee liqueur or bailey’s irish cream to make it boozy.

FAQ
The whipped cream will likely fall to the bottom of the cup because of the heaviness of the whipped topping! You want the look of whipped chocolate cloud-like presentation.
Absolutely! It would just be an ice whipped chocolate drink! Skip the warmed milk, place ice cubes in the mug, add cold milk, and follow the rest of the recipe.
Enjoy this hot chocolate drink!
